Our Story
Our goal at The Piano Strettosphere is to bring happiness to all pianists, especially those with small and medium-sized hands who long for maximum expressivity, power, comfort, and control at the piano.
The size of the standard piano dates from the late 19th century, when European men were the largest demographic on the concert stage. Today, an enormous diversity of people play the piano (in fact, the largest demographic of pianists in the world is now Asian females!) Despite these changes, the keyboard has remained the same size for 150 years.
We are the first multi-brand dealership to provide pianists with small- and medium-sized hands the opportunity to purchase instruments that fit them. We serve both piano manufacturers and customers who wish to purchase narrow keys.
We welcome serious inquiries and cannot be utilized for callers who primarily want information. However, we are happy to answer questions as you make your decision as to which instrument you’d like to own. We can also help you retrofit your existing piano to have narrow keys.
After 30 years of intense study, scrutiny, and interest in assisting both pianists and manufacturers, The Piano Strettosphere is here to serve you, the pianist of any age, background, and hand size, and to make your piano dreams come true.
Memorabilia photo from circa 1997 when Founder Hannah Reimann had her piano rebuilt shows that a tiny person can comfortably get inside a grand piano!
